YOU ARE NOT ANONYMOUS ON AMAZON NOW

Starting September 1, 2020 Your Business Name and Address Will Appear on Amazon

Anonymity is a double edged sword. On one hand ti afforded you the security as an individual or small business by not revealing your info to the world of eCommerce consumers. On the other hand it allowed nefarious actors to have their way, operate in the shadows, and deceive and even defraud consumers here in the US

Amazon’s official statement that sellers on the US Marketplace will have their name and address displayed are not surprising but could be impactful depending on your situation

According to Amazon, they are making this change because:

Over the years, we have developed many ways for sellers to share more about their business, including through features like the Seller Profile page, Store pages for brand owners, and Handmade Maker Profile pages. These features help customers learn more about the businesses of a seller and the products that they are selling. We are making this change to ensure there is a consistent baseline of seller information to help customers make informed shopping decisions.

Here’s an example of how this differs from the EU/UK marketplaces, which have required this for some time now:
